Rafferty for AG Releases Plan To Protect Pennsylvania Family Farmers
Josh Shapiro Voted Against ACRE LAW
HARRISBURG – The Rafferty for Attorney General campaign released his record of supporting Pennsylvania family farmers and his plan to continue doing so as our next Attorney General:
“In Pennsylvania, agriculture is our number one industry, and as Attorney General I will do everything I can to protect our farmers and their families,” Rafferty said. “I voted for the ACRE law, my opponent, Josh Shapiro did not. I will fight overregulation by the government, Josh Shapiro supports more regulation. Unlike my opponent, I will fight for our farmers, Josh Shapiro will fight against them.”
Protecting Our Family Farmers:
- Stand up to the EPA and DEP Overregulation: Unlike Democratic Attorney General candidate Josh Shapiro, John Rafferty does not support overregulation. President Obama’s administration, the US Environmental Protection Agency and Governor Tom Wolf’s Department of Environmental Protection have issued radical regulations that are hurting Pennsylvania farmers. John Rafferty will stand up for the Pennsylvania agriculture community and protect them from aggressive government overreach that negatively impacts our hardworking farmers who are working to feed our Commonwealth.
- Continue Support of ACRE Law: As a State Senator, John Rafferty voted to implement Pennsylvania Agriculture and Rural Environment Law (ACRE) that allows family farms to challenge local municipal ordinances with the Office of Attorney General. His opponent, Josh Shapiro, as a member of the StateHouse voted against the ACRE law. (PA HB 1646 of 2005, 6/30/05)
- Death Tax: John Rafferty was proud to vote to eliminate the Death Tax for family farmers.
- Identity Theft: John Rafferty will propose creating an Identity Theft Protection Unit that will focus on protecting and assisting all Pennsylvanians from identity theft, including Pennsylvania’s farming families.
